Understanding Preschoolers

As children grow into early childhood, they will become more independent, want to explore more and ask a lot of questions about the things around them. They want to touch, taste, smell, hear and test things for themselves. They are eager to learn and they learn by experiencing and by doing. Primarily, they learn from their play and interaction with other individuals in their lives. The preschool years may be one of the greatest opportunities for engaging parents in their child’s learning. Parents are children’s first and most important teachers, so we need to help parents understand what their child is capable of doing depending on his or her age. When including young children in cooking activities, it is important that parents keep the following in mind.
